Guide to Global Standards of Health and Safety at Exhibitions

Showforce Endorse and Adopt the G-Guide

July 2013

Showforce, a global leader in the provision of event staff, has become an endorser of the g-Guide (Guide to Global Standards of Health and Safety at Exhibitions and Conferences). Their operational offices in the UK, UAE and Qatar will adopt it as a minimum practical standard with immediate effect across all exhibition and conference events.

The g-Guide was designed to ensure that contractors, organisers, venues and exhibitors workto a minimum acceptable safety standards in any country whilst recognising that many countries may have higher standards which will take precedence. Whilst they are widely applicable to events, they have been written specifically with exhibitions in mind. The guidelines cover the main areas of risk.

Showforce supply staff to exhibitions and events around the world and puts huge emphasis on working to the highest Health and Safety standards. By endorsing the g-Guide they are lending their full support to the scheme.

Particular focus will be placed in the Middle East where safety standards aren't always as high. They are already recognized as leading the way in best practice and encouraging others to do the same. Senior members of staff are being trained to IOSH level to enable them to work as Floor Managers in the UKand Middle East.

Mike Smith, Showforce's COO commented: " The g-Guide is a great benchmark that can be applied in any market, at Showforce we are constantly reviewing and developing our Health and Safety services. Supporting the scheme is a natural fit with our ethos. We will be distributing copies to our teams and we're looking forward to working with the g-Guide team to continue to improve standards as they look to developing the g5."

David Gallacher-Olsson, g-Guides representative from Clarion Events added: "As providers of event staff they work across all the elements of exhibition organising; venues, contractors, organisers and exhibitors, having them onboard endorsing the guide will help to spread the message and achieve our goal of better Health and Safety practices across the whole industry.

The g-Guide is also endorsed by Clarion Events, dmg:events, Reed Exhibitions, UBM and X-Venture Global Risk Solutions.
